Phase II Stormwater Products helps project managers, developers, regulators, and inspectors meet US EPA Phase II NPDES water quality standards. We utilizes beneficial soil microbes to purify stormwater runoff to ensure that the water entering natural water bodies is of the highest possible quality.
The Biological Difference:
Phase II’s approach to stormwater management sets us apart from the management philosophy that other companies employ. Our emphasis is on researching, testing and integrating beneficial micro-organisms in our compost to facilitate the revitalization of polluted stormwater, limit soil erosion and support plant growth.
A complete soil food web comprises large populations or interrelated, diverse organisms.
Each gram of soil may contain:
- Total Bacteria,15 – 30 micro-grams
- Total fungi, 100-300 micro-grams
- Protozoa, 10,000 micro-grams
- Beneficial Nematodes, 20 – 30 micro-grams
These beneficial microorganisms function in the soil to:
- Improve soil pore space, increasing water infiltration and root growth
- Metabolize pollutants, reducing water contamination
- Increase soil surface tension, reducing movement of soil particles and decreasing soil erosion
- Increase water storage in soil, reducing water use
- Increase soil carbon storage, helping to clean air
- Improve plant nutrient uptake, supporting healthy plant life
